Premier League Loan Offers Give Endrick a Chance to Revive His Career
Endrick, the young Brazilian forward, looks set to leave Real Madrid on loan once again this season. Among the clubs interested, Premier League side Aston Villa, fresh off their Europa League victory, seem to be leading the race.
Since joining Madrid in summer 2024 as one of South America’s brightest talents, Endrick has struggled to secure regular minutes. Both Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso found it difficult to fit him consistently into the lineup. Midway through the 2025–26 season, he was loaned out to Lyon where he made a strong impression, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists across 21 games.
His performance in France earned him a spot in Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. Upon returning to Real Madrid preseason, Endrick hoped to convince new manager José Mourinho of his worth. Yet, with competition increasing and Mourinho favoring a smaller squad, it appears his immediate future lies away from the Spanish capital.
Competition and Squad Strategy at Real Madrid
This season, Madrid brought in Carlos Espí as backup striker and Yan Diomande, a promising young winger. Both arrivals add pressure on Endrick, who has been utilized either centrally or out wide during his loan spell in France. Mourinho’s comment about wanting a squad of just 20 players plus those injured suggests departures like Endrick’s are likely before the September 1 transfer deadline.
Interest from Across Europe
Clubs from England, Spain, and Italy have shown interest in the 20-year-old. Reports from AS mention that both Aston Villa and Serie A’s AS Roma have approached Madrid about loan deals following Endrick’s solid stint in Ligue 1. Real Madrid still see Endrick as a valuable asset and do not want to diminish his market value.
To help secure a loan, Madrid are reportedly ready to contribute towards Endrick’s hefty salary, which exceeds €5 million (about $5.75 million) annually. SPORT names Aston Villa as the "most probable" destination. Meanwhile, Spanish clubs Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis have also expressed interest, with Endrick himself keen to compete in European tournaments.
What Endrick Brings to Aston Villa
At just 20 years old, Endrick has already experienced three managerial regimes at Real Madrid. From being one of the most anticipated young talents, he now finds himself struggling for attention amid the club’s high expectations. This summer, Diomande, younger by a year, was signed as a fresh prospect, signaling where the club’s priorities lie.
Endrick once drew comparisons to Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema, and even Pelé. Though his near €60 million ($69 million) transfer fee seems steep in hindsight, his time in France demonstrated he remains a player with potential. His pace, low center of gravity, and goal-scoring ability marked him out early on at Palmeiras, which convinced Madrid to invest heavily.
The move to the world's biggest club has been a steep learning curve, but not a failure. His loan at Lyon revealed a raw, energetic forward capable of playing on the right flank or as a central striker.
Ex-France star Emmanuel Petit said back in May, "Endrick is so young, only 19. He’s very talented, very gifted, but he’s like a wild horse with a lot of energy. On the field, sometimes he can be a bit too selfish. But at the same time, he knows he has huge qualities. He needs to be in the right setting to improve and develop because this kid is a diamond. What kind of club would suit him? Given his qualities, I’d love him to come to Arsenal."
