Endrick Commits to Real Madrid for 2025-26 Despite Aston Villa Interest

Brazilian forward Endrick has decided to remain with Real Madrid for the 2025-26 season after discussions involving the player, club officials, and head coach Jose Mourinho. This comes despite keen interest from Premier League club Aston Villa, who have been tracking the young talent closely since his move to Europe.

Internal Agreement at Valdebebas

The decision to keep Endrick in the squad was a joint one, according to The Athletic. Various European clubs had targeted him, hoping to take advantage of his limited playing time at Madrid. However, all parties involved agreed that he should stay and compete for a spot in the highly competitive lineup.

Mourinho’s Tactical Plans for Endrick

Under Jose Mourinho, Endrick is expected to see increased minutes, primarily on the right wing. Mourinho does not consider midfielders Federico Valverde or new signing Bernardo Silva as permanent options for this role. By positioning Endrick there, the coach aims to create a more balanced attack, with a fluid front three capable of interchanging roles throughout matches.

In addition to playing wide, Endrick will also serve as an important backup striker behind star forward Kylian Mbappe. Sharing secondary striker duties with newcomer Carlos Espi, Endrick’s versatility will keep him integral to Madrid’s rotations in both La Liga and the Champions League.

Tracking Endrick’s Progress Since Joining Madrid

Endrick arrived at Real Madrid in July 2024 from Palmeiras, with the transfer fee initially set at €35 million plus up to €25 million in add-ons. He has appeared in 40 matches for the club so far, scoring seven goals during his limited playing time. His reputation remains strong internationally, having been part of Brazil’s 26-man squad for the recent World Cup under former Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. Endrick played in almost all matches before Brazil exited in the round of 16 against Norway.

Preparation for the New Season

Real Madrid are gearing up for their La Liga opener against Espanyol on August 22. The choice to retain Endrick contrasts with the club’s approach to other young talents; for example, promising midfielder Franco Mastantuono has been loaned out to Fiorentina for the season.

Endrick's situation will be reviewed in January, similar to earlier this year when he spent time on loan at Lyon. During his stint in France’s Ligue 1, he impressed by netting eight goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.
