Dominik Szoboszlai Signs New Five-Year Contract with Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai leant back in his chair at Liverpool’s training base and tried to rank the days that have shaped his life. Signing for Liverpool. The birth of his child. And now this.

A new five-year contract. A commitment that ties him to Anfield until he is 30. A statement, from player and club, that this is only the beginning.

“This is in the top three,” he told the club’s media. “Very happy. Can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here.”

That mindset is exactly what Liverpool are banking on. This is not a contract for what he has done; it is a bet on what he will become between 24 and 30, the years when elite midfielders usually reach their peak.

“When I signed, I said I want to win everything. That didn’t change for a little moment either,” he insisted. “It stayed the same: I want to win everything that is possible in this country, also let’s say the Champions League. I’m ready to go for it.”

The domestic trophies are on his list. The league, again, will be a target. But the Champions League sits there as the great challenge, the prize he has now explicitly circled before this contract runs its course.

Liverpool have secured their playmaker for his prime. Szoboszlai has nailed his colours to the mast and set his own bar: win it all, including Europe’s biggest prize, or know he left something on the table.
