Deniz Undav Signs Long-Term Contract with VfB Stuttgart

Deniz Undav has tied his future to VfB Stuttgart, signing a new contract that runs until 2029 and includes an option for a further year – a statement of intent from both club and player at the peak of his powers.

The 29-year-old Germany international has grown from shrewd loan signing to the heartbeat of Sebastian Hoeneß’s attack since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2023. Stuttgart initially took a calculated gamble; what they have now is one of the Bundesliga’s most ruthless forwards, locked in for the long term.

Undav’s numbers tell their own story. In 86 Bundesliga appearances for the club, he has scored 46 goals and provided 18 assists, production that places him firmly among the elite strikers in Germany’s top flight. "I'm over the moon to be continuing my career in Stuttgart," Undav said after putting pen to paper. “This contract extension means so much to me. "In his time in Stuttgart, Deniz has become a Germany international with a World Cup around the corner. VfB finishing runners-up in the league, winning the DFB Cup and just recently qualifying for the Champions League once again has a lot to do with him as well."

The trajectory is clear. From loan arrival fighting for a starting spot to cornerstone of a team back on the European stage, Undav has forced his way into the national picture too. His form has carried him into Julian Nagelsmann’s 26-man Germany squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA, where he is expected to play a key role.
