Cristiano Ronaldo Vows to Reveal Truth After Leaving Portugal Squad Amid Dispute
Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Silence After Abrupt Exit from Portugal Camp
Cristiano Ronaldo has made a public declaration promising to disclose the full story behind his unexpected withdrawal from the Portugal national team. This decision followed a heated disagreement with coach Jorge Jesus during the ongoing international break.
Official Statement from Ronaldo
Following a report from Marca, Ronaldo confirmed his exit through a social media announcement shortly after Jorge Jesus held a press conference and discussions with the Portuguese Football Federation took place. Ronaldo said, "After the national team manager's press conference and a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have chosen to leave the national team camp." This happened just before a key UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.
Promises to Reveal Full Story
The tension began when Ronaldo was benched and unused during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway, with him leaving the stadium immediately after the game. Ronaldo assured his followers on social platforms that he will eventually explain the reasons behind his departure, stating, "In due course, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always been fully committed. For now, I wish Portugal and all my teammates, without exception, the very best of luck."
Dispute Over Playing Time
The core issue appears to be playing time and communication. Jesus started Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos as forwards against Norway; both scored goals. Ronaldo warmed up in the second half but stayed on the bench. The coach later stated that he had warned Ronaldo about possibly not playing, saying, "I told the player he wasn't going to play. If I need you for 30 minutes, you'll play; if not, you won't. No player will make me change my mind."
Ronaldo's Next Moves
After leaving Copenhagen on his private jet to Madrid, Ronaldo's future with the national team is uncertain. It is not clear if this marks his permanent retirement from international football or a temporary break while Jesus remains head coach.
