Cristiano Ronaldo Announces Marriage to Georgina Rodríguez in Private Ceremony

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed his marriage to longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez. The couple exchanged vows during a private civil ceremony held on Tuesday in Cascais, Portugal.

The wedding coincided with the first anniversary of their engagement announcement on Instagram in 2025. The intimate event was attended by their five children, marking a special family occasion.

Ronaldo shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple holding hands adorned with wedding bands, captioned simply: C❤️G.

The ceremony followed speculation that the couple would wed at Funchal Cathedral in Ronaldo's hometown, where thousands of fans had gathered outside in anticipation.

How Ronaldo and Rodríguez Met

Their story began in 2016 when Georgina, then working at a Gucci store in Madrid, met Ronaldo, who was playing for Real Madrid at the time. She appeared in her Netflix documentary, Soy Georgina, describing how their meeting was unexpected. She was meant to finish work early but stayed late to assist a VIP client—Ronaldo.

"I was finally able to leave the shop three hours later than I should have, and as I was getting ready to leave, Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends," Rodríguez said. "Let's just say it was butterflies in my stomach."

From then on, they became inseparable. Ronaldo often picked her up from work in his Bugatti after she arrived by bus, a fact that amazed her colleagues.

"He would come, once in a Bugatti. My co-workers went crazy. They’d arrive by bus, and I’d leave in a Bugatti. People couldn’t believe it," she recalled.

Eventually, Georgina quit her job due to the attention their relationship drew. She embraced the role of caring for Ronaldo’s three children from previous relationships—Cristiano Jr, Eva Maria, and Mateo. Together, they now share two daughters, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.

The Moment Ronaldo Felt Ready

In the documentary, Ronaldo explained why he hadn’t proposed earlier, saying he wanted to feel the right moment, or as he called it, the “click.”

"I always tell her when we get that click, like everything with our life, and she knows what I’m talking about," Ronaldo said. "It could be in a year, six months, or a month. I’m 1000 per cent sure it’ll happen."

Meanwhile, Rodríguez mentioned how her friends teased her about the wedding date, often singing Jennifer Lopez’s songs like "The Ring" or "When." She laughed, saying it wasn’t up to her, but now the wait is over.
