Caleb Yirenkyi walked out of the 2026 World Cup as one of its great discoveries. Now he walks into a club fighting to make its long-awaited Premier League return last.

Lampard reshapes his squad

Yirenkyi is not arriving alone. Lampard has been busy reshaping a squad that dominated the Championship but now faces an entirely different landscape.

Frank Onyeka, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda and Carl Rushworth have all come through the door this summer, and more business is expected as Coventry try to deepen the squad in every department. The message is clear: promotion was not the finish line, it was the start of a much harder race.
