Chelsea's Transfer Decisions: Neto, Mudryk, Leao, and Scott
Chelsea’s attacking jigsaw is shifting again, with key decisions looming over Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Rafael Leao and Alex Scott as the transfer window edges towards its sharp end.
Neto interest grows as £100m price tag looms
Pedro Neto’s Chelsea future is anything but secure. The winger, who arrived amid high expectations, now sits at the centre of serious interest from abroad and at home.
football.london understands Al-Hilal are among the clubs monitoring Neto, joined by a cluster of Premier League sides. Chelsea are fully aware of the noise around the Portugal international, yet no formal bids have landed on the table.
They are not openly touting him around. But they are listening.
If the right offer arrives, Chelsea are prepared to talk. Their internal valuation is said to be close to £100m, a figure that underlines just how inflated the current market has become and how highly the club still rate the 24-year-old. Any buyer will have to pay at the very top end to prise him away.
Mudryk loan race heats up – with Coventry in the mix
On the opposite flank, Mykhailo Mudryk’s path looks very different. Chelsea want him playing regular football this season – just not necessarily at Stamford Bridge.
Coventry City are pushing hard to take the winger on loan, according to Teamtalk. Frank Lampard’s side are described as “serious contenders” in the chase for his signature, with the Championship club sensing an opportunity to add a high-ceiling attacker to their ranks.
Chelsea are exploring loan options for Mudryk after he was cleared to play this season, and a move within English football is believed to be their preference. That stance could strengthen Coventry’s hand as they try to convince both club and player.
Crucially, this is not being framed as the end of Mudryk’s Chelsea story. The report claims the Ukrainian still has a future at Stamford Bridge, with a loan viewed as a step towards unlocking the consistency and confidence that have so far eluded him.
Leao offered to Chelsea as Milan open the door
While some wide players may be heading out, another could yet be coming in.
Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian outlet reports that representatives of the Portugal international have contacted Chelsea over a possible move, with Roma also approached this summer.
The message from the player’s camp is clear: there is a willingness to explore a new challenge.
An offer in the region of £34m is reported to be enough to tempt Milan into a deal for the 27-year-old, who has been at San Siro since joining from Lille in 2019. For a player of his pedigree and profile, that fee would represent a comparatively modest outlay in today’s market.
Whether Chelsea act on that opportunity may depend on what happens elsewhere in their midfield and attack.
Alex Scott on radar if Enzo leaves
One of the biggest dominoes is Enzo Fernandez.
Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott remains a live target for Chelsea, but only if Fernandez leaves before deadline day. The club’s planning is clear: Scott is viewed as a potential replacement, not an addition on top.
Chelsea recently laid down an unofficial ultimatum to Manchester City over Fernandez. They informed City that the Argentine could be signed for £120m, but insisted the Premier League champions had only until last Friday to submit a bid.
No official offer arrived. City’s interest, though, has not disappeared.
Chelsea, for their part, have already tested Bournemouth’s resolve. A £64m bid for Scott was rejected last month, with sources close to the south-coast club adamant the midfielder is not for sale this summer.
So the stalemate holds. Fernandez remains, Scott stays put, and Chelsea wait.
Four names. One window. A winger who might command £100m, another fighting to relaunch his career on loan, a Champions League star offered at £34m, and a young midfielder locked behind a “not for sale” sign. How many of those pieces actually move will say plenty about what Chelsea really want this team to be.
