Jamie Carragher's Warning on Liverpool's Transfer Priorities

Jamie Carragher has warned Liverpool that their transfer priorities are badly skewed, insisting the club “desperately” need a right winger rather than another option off the left.

With Liverpool exploring a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, the former Reds defender made it clear he does not see the Frenchman as a viable heir to Mohamed Salah on the right flank at Anfield.

The alarm was sounded in response to a Sky Sports post on X asking whether Barcola could be Salah’s replacement. Carragher’s answer was blunt and instant.

For Carragher, the issue is less about Barcola’s talent and more about the shape of Liverpool’s squad. He highlighted what he sees as an obvious imbalance in wide areas, with the left side already crowded and the right glaringly thin.

LFC currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio/Gakpo/Wirtz & no one who plays from the right.

The message is unmistakable. While the club open talks with PSG over a left-sided winger, one of Anfield’s most vocal modern icons believes the real problem remains unsolved: who carries the torch on Salah’s flank when the Egyptian is no longer there?
