The Leeds United midfielder, a key part of the current U.S. World Cup squad, left camp after Thursday’s session to wed longtime girlfriend Milana D’Ambra, daughter of Saint Joseph’s men’s soccer coach Don D’Ambra. He is scheduled to rejoin the national team in time for training on Saturday, a brief detour from World Cup preparations for a milestone that dwarfs even the sport’s grandest stage.

It fits Aaronson’s story. At 25, the Medford, New Jersey native stands at the heart of one of American soccer’s most recognizable families. His younger brother Paxten is carving his own path with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, while sister Jaden broke into the college game last fall as a freshman at Villanova. Their father, Rusty, helps shape the next wave as sporting director of Real Futbol Academy in Medford.
