Barcola’s situation is complicated by the presence of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. In the biggest games, Luis Enrique leans on the Georgian, leaving Barcola behind him in the pecking order. For a 23-year-old who has already shown he can decide matches on the biggest stage, that is a problem. A big one.

The result: he is now seriously weighing up a move.

PSG have reacted by putting a price on his head. It is steep. €100m (£86m) for a player they believe can dominate European football for the next decade. That figure has not scared everyone away.

Liverpool and Arsenal circle

Liverpool and Arsenal are both in the race and, crucially, both have already done their homework. Romano confirms Barcola sits firmly on Arsenal’s shortlist and remains a long-standing target for Liverpool.

“Bradley Barcola is on Arsenal’s shortlist for sure, he’s one of the wingers appreciated, but Barcola is also on the list at Liverpool,” Romano said, adding that the Reds “keep a close eye” on the situation and have had him on their radar since 2025.

The feeling, as Romano puts it, is that the story is “absolutely open”. PSG are not advancing contract talks. The player is considering his options. Two English giants are ready to move. It is the kind of transfer equation that rarely ends in a quiet summer.

Reports in France suggest Barcola is “thrilled” by the idea of moving to Anfield. That word matters. Liverpool do not just want a wide forward; they want one who sees their project as the natural next step.

Speaking on the Born ‘N Red podcast, Romano laid out the situation. Liverpool, he said, are “maintaining contacts for Diomande AND for Barcola”. The Diomande pursuit is at an advanced stage, with an official bid lodged and talks ongoing with both Leipzig and the player’s agents. Barcola is at a different point in the process, more of a live discussion inside the club than an active negotiation with PSG.

Yet the admiration is real.

“Internally at Liverpool they are discussing Barcola every single week,” Romano revealed. “It’s a player they appreciate, a player they wanted already in summer 2025, but it wasn’t possible. So, they love Barcola!”

Those Diomande talks are proving stubborn. A German journalist has already underlined why Leipzig are so hard to deal with on this one, and the sense is growing that the deal could collapse under the weight of that €148m demand. If it does, Liverpool will not have the luxury of time.

That is where Barcola comes in.

A new-look Liverpool attack taking shape

Liverpool have already moved once in the market, signing Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for €40m (£34.5m). It is a significant outlay, but not the final piece. The plan is clear: reshape and refresh an attack that has carried the club for years.
