Benjamin Sesko Reflects on Late Draw with Everton Despite Scoring First Manchester United Goal

Benjamin Sesko shared his thoughts following a tough late equaliser conceded by Manchester United against Everton, even though he scored his first goal of the season. The Slovenian forward came off the bench at Hill Dickinson Stadium and headed United ahead, but Everton managed to level the score in stoppage time, ending the match 2-2.

First Goal of the Season for Sesko

The number 30 connected perfectly with a precise cross from Luke Shaw, directing a strong header past Jordan Pickford to put the Red Devils in front in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, this lead was overturned in the 96th minute when Ainsley Maitland-Niles struck a stunning goal to secure a draw for Everton.

Frustration Over Last-Minute Equaliser

Despite marking his return from injury with an important goal, Sesko expressed his disappointment at losing two points so late in the game. Speaking to MUTV, he said:

"We're very disappointed, of course, because we were so close and yet so far. To concede a goal like that in the last minute is painful for everyone because everyone gave everything to try and win. Every single person here wants that. When a last shot decides it, it hurts a lot."

Signs of Recovery and Optimism

After struggling with fitness problems that affected most of his pre-season, Sesko sees this goal as a positive sign. He reflected on his performance and the team's effort:

"For me, scoring feels great, especially at a club like this. Providing goals and points is my job at the end of the day. It’s nice to be back with the team, experiencing matches again. Of course, I wish we had won today, but we can't change that. It’s important to take everything positively, even when the result isn’t ideal. We have to see the game in a good light, improve, and focus on the next match."

Looking Ahead to European Action

Having come off the bench in recent games against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Everton, Sesko aims for a starting spot as he approaches full match fitness. Manager Michael Carrick’s squad must move past this domestic setback quickly as they prepare for midweek European competition. Manchester United will host Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK at Old Trafford on Thursday night to begin their Champions League campaign.
