Barcelona Signs Jesse Bisiwu: A New Talent from Belgium

Barcelona have dipped back into the European talent pool, this time surfacing in Belgium. On Friday, the Spanish champions confirmed the signing of teenage winger Jesse Bisiwu from Club Brugge for a reported fee of 8.5 million euros, a sizeable investment in a player who has not yet played a minute of top-flight football.

“FC Barcelona and Club Brugge have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jesse Bisiwu, who signs up to be a blaugrana until 30 June 2031,” the club announced, tying the 18-year-old down to a long-term deal that underlines how highly they rate him.

He arrives as part of a clear strategy. After Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, Bisiwu is the latest attacking recruit in a summer that shows Barcelona are determined to reload their forward line with youth, speed and one‑v‑one specialists.

Born on January 22, 2008, Bisiwu has been on the radar of scouts across Europe since he lit up the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Belgium reached the semi-finals; he made the tournament’s Best XI. That selection, in a competition stacked with elite prospects, marked him out as one of the brightest of his generation.

That exposure to the physical and tactical demands of the professional game, at an age when most wingers are still in academy bubbles, will not have gone unnoticed at the Camp Nou.

He never broke into Club Brugge’s first team, a reminder of how early this move comes in his career. Barcelona, aware of that, are expected to start him with their reserve side as he adjusts to a new country, a new language and a different style of football.
