Arsenal has been informed that signing Real Madrid's forward Vinicius Junior would require a British-record transfer fee of £137 million this summer, according to reports.

The news stirred excitement among Arsenal supporters on Saturday after rumors surfaced about the club’s interest in bringing Vinicius to the Emirates as their new left-winger. Although no formal negotiations between the clubs have taken place yet and the player’s representatives have not given approval, the move is reportedly supported at all levels within Arsenal's hierarchy.

If completed, this would set a new Premier League transfer record, surpassing the £125 million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak last year.

The figure might only be an entry point; the asking price could climb higher. Reports also suggest that manager Jose Mourinho opposes selling Vinicius to Arsenal, though the club acknowledges that Arsenal can afford the deal — but only if they offload some players first.

Upcoming Contract Talks and Player Performance

Real Madrid and Vinicius are scheduled to discuss his contract towards the end of July. The club has not ruled out offering an extension later in the season if no agreement is reached soon.

The 26-year-old had a strong 2025-26 season, scoring 22 goals and assisting 14 in 53 appearances for Los Blancos. He also contributed four goals and one assist in five matches for Brazil during the 2026 World Cup.
