Arsenal's Expected Lineup Against Real Betis in Pre-Season Friendly with Two Changes by Arteta
On Wednesday, Arsenal face Real Betis in a pre-season friendly in Dublin. Manager Mikel Arteta might tweak his lineup after the convincing 4-1 victory over Girona on Saturday.
During that match, Piero Hincapie, Viktor Gyokeres, and Kai Havertz—all returning from World Cup breaks—were eased back into action. Havertz opened the scoring, but none played more than 33 minutes. Gyokeres might sit out the start as Gabriel Jesus returns to the attack.
Gabriel Jesus sealed the win after goals from Max Dowman and Christos Tzolis. Both Dowman and Tzolis are expected to continue playing wide roles. Reiss Nelson seems likely to be sold soon, so he probably won’t feature much.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has caught attention from Manchester United, yet he remains a regular choice in midfield, especially with Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino still unavailable. Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri should complete the midfield trio.
In defense, Hincapie is expected to start again, while Gabriel Magalhaes is likely being rested. Ben White, who returned from a knee injury and played 61 minutes against Girona, may be benched as a precaution. This opens the door for Marli Ellis Salmon to impress, with Cristhian Mosquera shifting to right-back.
- Goalkeeper: Kepa
- Defenders: Mosquera, Salmon, Hincapie, Calafiori
- Midfielders: Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly, Havertz
- Forwards: Dowman, Jesus, Tzolis
