Arsenal have stepped into one of the summer’s most intriguing transfer battles, joining Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres.

Torres’ stock has rarely been higher. He was Spain’s match-winner on the biggest stage of all, scoring the decisive extra-time goal against Argentina in the World Cup final and etching his name into his country’s footballing folklore.
