Arsenal Urged to Build Dream Team After Guardiola and Klopp Departures

Anders Limpar has seen enough title races to know when the landscape has changed. In his eyes, this is one of those moments. With Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp no longer prowling the technical areas of the Premier League, the former Arsenal winger believes the champions are walking into a season of opportunity – and he wants them to attack it with ruthless ambition.

A new title order taking shape

Limpar is convinced the balance of power is tilting. Not away from Arsenal, but towards them.

"It could all change depending on what happens before the transfer window closes but I think Chelsea are going to be there this season," he told SveaCasino, before quickly drawing his own battle lines. For him, the title race narrows to three: Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.

"They have bought the players who can make them a really good team under Xabi Alonso," he said of Chelsea, giving them a place in the chasing pack. Beyond that, he sees a familiar scramble for the rest of the top six: Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and probably either Brighton or Liverpool.

The striking part is where he places Arsenal. Not among the contenders. At the front of them.

"Arsenal have a very good chance to win the Premier League again because I can’t see a bigger threat to them with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp no longer in the league," he argued. For Limpar, the path is clear: stay calm, stay clever, go one game at a time and defend the crown.

From strong to unstoppable

Arsenal already carry the look of a complete squad. Limpar doesn’t disagree. He just thinks they should aim higher.

While many clubs would settle after a title-winning season and a strong summer, he is pushing for something more dramatic – a leap from champions to a side that can dominate both at home and in Europe.

He believes three signings could change everything: Bruno Guimaraes, Julian Alvarez and Vinicius Junior.

"A club like Arsenal always need good players but to bring in Bruno Guimaraes, Julian Alvarez, Vinicius Jr," he said, sketching out his vision of a supercharged squad. Then came a name that will raise eyebrows: Christos Tzolis.

"You also have a player in Christos Tzolis, who already looks world class. With these players, Arsenal can dominate the Premier League and the Champions League for the next three years."

That is not cautious talk. That is a former title-winner laying down a challenge to his old club: you’re in control now, act like it.

Tzolis, depth and the Arteta effect

Limpar’s admiration for Tzolis comes with a dose of realism. He doubts the Greek forward will feature heavily, and he doesn’t hide his frustration about it.

"I don’t think Tzolis is going to play all that much, which will be unfortunate, but Arsenal need to buy all the good players they can," he said. For him, the calculation is simple. Elite clubs stockpile elite options.

Before the summer, Limpar felt Arsenal needed "two or three players" just to refresh the squad and stay among the frontrunners. Those additions have already arrived, and in his view they’ve shifted the internal dynamics.

"With the signings they’ve already made, Mikel Arteta is going to be running the show," he insisted. The implication is clear: this is now Arteta’s era, not just his project.

Questions on the right, pressure through the middle

Limpar’s call for more firepower isn’t blind spending. It’s rooted in specific concerns about depth and consistency across the front line.

"Down the right, Arsenal have Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka. We already have Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz up front," he said, before pointing to the fragility that lurks beneath the surface.

"What if Kai Havertz got injured again? We saw Viktor Gyokeres was in and out of form last season. Bukayo Saka still isn’t all that he can be."

Those are not criticisms as much as warnings. Arsenal’s attack has quality, but in a season where they are expected to compete on every front, quality alone is not enough. They need variety. They need insurance. They need players who can step in without the level dropping.

That is where Limpar’s dream trio comes in.

The dream-team vision

In his ideal world, Arsenal don’t just add one marquee name. They go all in.

"If Arsenal bring in Vinicius, Bruno Guimaraes and Julian Alvarez to add to Christos Tzolis, those are the kind of players you keep for the long run," he said. The picture he paints is of a squad so deep, so flexible, that Arteta can shape a different kind of monster for every occasion.

At that point, Limpar believes, Arsenal stop being just champions. They start to look like something else entirely.

"Arsenal start looking like the dream team with Mikel Arteta in a position where he can pick whatever combination he wants."

The Premier League has lost two of its defining managers. Limpar’s message is that Arsenal now have the chance to define what comes next. The question is whether they are prepared to build the squad that matches their new status – and live with the expectations that follow.
