While the Guimaraes saga edges into familiar big-club brinkmanship, Arsenal are also pressing ahead with a deal at the other end of the market.

Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga has emerged as another key target, and Arsenal have already seen an opening bid knocked back. It was described as a cheeky first attempt, the kind of low-ball offer that starts the dance rather than ends it.

Crucially, there is no sense of discouragement. Football Insider reports that Arsenal remain confident of finalising an agreement for Monga this summer. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing as they look to agree a fee and avoid the uncertainty of a tribunal.
