World Cup 2026 Round of 32: Complete Schedule, Matchups, Results and Qualification Details

The 2026 World Cup Round of 32 is now underway with the Round of 16 beginning to take shape. Seven teams have advanced through their initial knockout matches, while Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands are among the first eliminated in the expanded format.

The top two teams from each of the 12 groups qualified directly, along with the tournament's eight best third-place teams. The competition now shifts from group standings to direct elimination matches.

Round of 32 Match Results and Upcoming Fixtures

  • June 28: Canada edged South Africa 1-0; Canada faces Morocco in Houston on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
  • June 29: Brazil defeated Japan 2-1, set to play Norway in New Jersey Sunday. Paraguay ousted Germany on penalties (4-3) and will meet France Saturday in Philadelphia. Morocco beat the Netherlands on penalties (3-2) and meets Canada Saturday in Houston.
  • June 30: Norway won 2-1 over Ivory Coast and will face Brazil. France crushed Sweden 3-0 and advances to play Paraguay. Mexico beat Ecuador 2-0 and awaits the winner of England vs. DR Congo on Sunday in Mexico City.
  • July 1: England faces DR Congo at noon ET in Atlanta. Belgium takes on Senegal at 4 p.m. ET in Seattle. The USA plays Bosnia and Herzegovina at 8 p.m. ET in Santa Clara.
  • July 2: Spain meets Austria at 3 p.m. ET in Inglewood. Portugal battles Croatia at 7 p.m. ET in Toronto. Switzerland squares off against Algeria at 11 p.m. ET in Vancouver.
  • July 3: Australia plays Egypt at 2 p.m. ET in Arlington. Argentina faces Cape Verde at 6 p.m. ET in Miami Gardens. Colombia clashes with Ghana at 9:30 p.m. ET in Kansas City.

Group Stage Recap and Qualification Summary

Highlights: Mexico topped Group A undefeated and will meet Ecuador. South Africa took second, facing Canada. Switzerland led Group B, with Canada and Bosnia also advancing. Brazil and Morocco ruled Group C; Brazil faces Japan next, Morocco the Netherlands. The USA leads Group D and will play Bosnia. Australia and Paraguay also qualified from that group.
