World Cup 2026 Knockout Round: Who's Out So Far?

The latest round of the World Cup 2026 knockouts brought fresh heartbreak for several nations. Austria fell decisively to Spain, while Algeria lost to Switzerland. The toughest blow came for Croatia, who conceded a late winner to Portugal during stoppage time and then had a last-minute equalizer disallowed.

With these results, 19 teams remain in contention. The tournament will reduce this number to 16 by the end of the round of 32. From there, the field continues to shrink: eight teams will exit after the last 16, four after the quarter-finals, two more in the semis, until only the champion remains from the original 48 qualifiers across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
