The UEFA Champions League returns for the 2026-27 season, promising thrilling clashes and memorable goals. Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning champions for two seasons, aim to claim a third straight European crown—a feat only three clubs have ever managed.

Challenging PSG are European heavyweights like Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Alongside them, newcomers such as Italy’s Como make their debut in this elite competition.

Qualification Breakdown

Out of the 36 spots in the group stage, 29 teams qualified directly, while seven earned their places through playoff rounds. The top four teams from each of the highest-ranked four UEFA leagues gain automatic entry. The fifth-ranked league contributes three teams directly, the sixth-ranked two, and leagues ranked seventh through tenth each send one.

Two additional slots, called European Performance Spots (EPS), are awarded based on last season’s UEFA results. For 2026-27, these extra spots go to England and Spain; Germany narrowly misses out.
