Tottenham's Winger Wishlist: Savinho Leads the Hunt

Tottenham have drawn up a clear attacking wishlist for the final stretch of the window – and a Chelsea winger sits on it, but not at the very top.

Roberto De Zerbi moved quickly to reshape midfield and defence earlier in the summer. The real surgery, though, was always going to come in the forward line. He flagged it weeks ago: two or three fresh faces still needed in attack.

One of those is all but locked in. Spurs are set to shell out a total of £85million to land Manchester City winger Savinho, a deal that underlines just how aggressively they are backing De Zerbi’s vision out wide.

Savinho leads Spurs’ winger hunt

Savinho has long been viewed as the headline target, and insider Pete O’Rourke has now laid out how the rest of the pecking order looks behind him.

“Pedro Neto is on Tottenham’s list, maybe not at the top of it right now,” he told Football Insider.

“Savinho is their number one target for that wide attacking position, he is the priority and they’re working hard to reach an agreement with Man City over that one.

“Cody Gakpo is high on that list as well, and both of those players are probably ahead of Pedro Neto in the pecking order for Spurs.

“Savinho is the one they’re really pushing to get done, and they’re keen on Gakpo too, so that’s where they stand at the moment.”

So the hierarchy is clear: Savinho first, Gakpo next, Neto following behind.

Chelsea dig in over Pedro Neto

Any move for Neto would be complicated and expensive. TEAMtalk understands Chelsea would demand around £100million to even consider parting with the Portugal international.

His camp are open to the idea of a transfer. The club are not. Chelsea want full value and then some.

Xabi Alonso is under no pressure to cash in. On the contrary, he is content to keep Neto as a key part of his squad and is prepared to resist interest.

And that interest is serious. Tottenham are not alone in tracking the winger, with Manchester City also in the conversation, while Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have already tested Chelsea’s resolve.

Al-Hilal tabled an offer of £60million. It went nowhere. With Chelsea holding firm at their £100million valuation, that bid was swiftly rejected.

For Spurs, the numbers matter. After committing £85million to Savinho, splashing another £100million on a player who largely operates in the same wide role feels a stretch.

Tottenham’s intent is obvious. They want pace, goals and width, and they are willing to pay for it. The question now is whether they stop at Savinho and a second-tier target like Gakpo – or tear up the budget to try and prise Neto out of Stamford Bridge.
