Serie A Transfer Market: Juventus, Milan, Inter, Napoli Updates
As Serie A edges toward kick-off and FIFA’s 10‑match suspension for Leandro Paredes dominates the disciplinary headlines, Italy’s transfer market is hurtling into its decisive hours. Deals are stalling, collapsing, or being revived by the hour. The picture around the top clubs is starting to sharpen.
Juventus weigh Musso move as dominoes fall in goal
Juventus are bracing for a reshuffle between the posts. With Michele Di Gregorio close to Bournemouth and Mattia Perin seemingly on his way to Palermo, the club need a reliable backup to Guglielmo Vicario.
One name stands out: Juan Musso. According to Tuttosport, the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is firmly on Juve’s list.
The problem? Napoli have moved earlier and harder. Fabrizio Romano reports that Musso has already given preference to the reigning champions, who are working on a swap deal involving Alex Meret’s understudy Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Musso. If that exchange lands, Juventus will be forced to pivot fast.
Milan freeze out four as numbers tell the story
At Milan, the break with several players is no longer whispered. It’s written in black and red.
The club have officially announced squad numbers for the new season, and four names are missing: Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana, Gimenez and Nkunku do not appear on the list at all. The league starts this weekend. They still don’t have a shirt.
The message is blunt. With no number and no place in the project, their departures now look like a matter of timing, not intention.
Inter, Pavard convinces as Bovio signs on
At Inter, the mood is different. Benjamin Pavard looks increasingly settled and central.
Coach Cristian Chivu made that clear in his press conference, praising the Frenchman’s impact: “He's doing a great job, he has made himself available to the group. He has played matches at a certain level.” From a technical point of view, Pavard is ticking every box, and the prospect of him leaving now feels remote.
Behind the scenes, the club have also tied down Bovio. His contract renewal is confirmed and, according to Fabrizio Romano, he is expected to remain with the Nerazzurri. Even so, his situation will be reassessed in the final hours of the window if an unexpected opportunity arises. Inter are keeping one eye on the market, just in case.
Napoli close Obaretin deal with future in mind
Napoli have quietly wrapped up another outgoing move. As reported by Alfredo Pedullà and Fabrizio Romano, the club have completed the transfer of Obaretin to Lorient.
The defender joins on loan with an option to buy set at €3.5 million, plus a percentage on any future resale. Napoli had to fend off interest from Sturm Graz, while Genoa had tracked the player in July. Lorient win the race, and Napoli bank a potential future profit line.
Roma hit the brakes on Fofana and Luis Henrique
Roma’s ambitions are running into hard numbers. According to Il Tempo, the Giallorossi came very close to signing Fofana on a deal worth €35 million plus bonuses, only for the ownership to block the move.
The reason is straightforward: the immediate financial outlay for Rodrigo Mora, combined with the club’s overall economic situation, has tightened the leash. The deal, for now, is off.
Luis Henrique falls into the same category. Il Messaggero reports that Roma like the player, but there is still no agreement on how to structure the transfer. Interest is there; the finances aren’t lining up.
Lazio shut the door on Mandas exit
In Rome’s other half, Lazio are drawing a clear line around their goalkeeper.
Corriere dello Sport writes that the club intend to trust Christos Mandas as their new No. 1 following Ivan Provedel’s departure. That stance cools the talk of negotiations with Juventus, who had identified Mandas as a possible backup to Vicario.
Lazio’s plan is simple: build around Mandas, not sell him.
Fiorentina won’t downgrade if Kean goes
Fiorentina are working with a conditional plan in attack. As reported by FirenzeViola, the club are searching for a striker only if Moise Kean completes a move to Como.
Kean’s exit is not guaranteed. It hinges on Fiorentina finding someone they believe can at least match, and ideally surpass, his level. Fabio Paratici’s stance is clear: he does not want to bring in a forward of a lower profile than Kean. The idea is to raise the bar again, just as the club have tried to do across other areas of the squad in this window.
With the season about to start and the market clock ticking down, Italy’s heavyweights are still juggling risk and opportunity. The next few days will decide who steps onto the pitch strengthened, and who walks into the new campaign with questions still hanging over their squad.
