Barcelona Completes Registration of Anthony Gordon for La Liga
Barcelona’s summer rebuild has another key piece in place. Anthony Gordon is officially a La Liga player.
The club have completed the registration of the England winger, who arrived from Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million plus add-ons. His paperwork is now lodged and approved, clearing him to feature in Sunday night’s league opener against Elche at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.
Gordon becomes the third major signing to be registered, following Rodri and Karim Adeyemi. All three are now eligible to make their competitive debuts for the Spanish champions this weekend, adding fresh energy and competition to a squad already stacked with attacking talent.
Joao Cancelo's Status
One name still sits in limbo: Joao Cancelo. Barcelona announced the Portuguese international’s arrival on Thursday, but his registration remains pending. The club are racing the clock to see if they can get him enrolled in time for the Elche clash, a familiar tension in recent summers.
This time, though, the mood around the offices at Barcelona is very different. Instead of late-night scrambles and emergency levers, the club are operating again under the 1:1 Fair Play rule, which has smoothed the entire process. No brinkmanship, no last-minute drama — just a steady line of new signings being cleared to play.
Three are already through the door and ready for their first official minutes in blaugrana. Now the question is whether Cancelo’s name will join them on the teamsheet before Barcelona walk out in Elche.
