PSG Secures Fifth Straight Title as Inter Completes Domestic Double

Paris Saint‑Germain did not so much edge over the line as stride across it. A 2-0 win over closest challengers Lens on Wednesday night locked in a fifth successive Ligue 1 crown and a 14th in the club’s history, underlining once more who rules the French domestic scene.

They needed only a point. They took all three.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia settled any lingering nerves just before the half-hour, striking after 29 minutes to tilt the night decisively Paris’s way. Lens, nine points back and already resigned to second place, never truly threatened to turn the title race on its head.

The gap in the table tells its own story. PSG move to 76 points, out of sight of Lens on 67 with just one game left. The champions had arrived with a six-point cushion and a vastly superior goal difference; the mathematics still demanded a final nudge, and they delivered it with the air of a team already thinking about a bigger stage.

That stage comes later this month: the Champions League final against Arsenal. Domestic business now wrapped up, PSG can train every spotlight on Europe.

As Lens pushed late on, the champions finished with a flourish. Substitute Ibrahim Mbaye struck in stoppage time, a late second that did nothing to alter the title equation but everything to underline PSG’s authority on a night that belonged to them yet again.

Fourteen titles. A fifth in a row. The dynasty rolls on.

Inter’s ruthless streak brings Coppa Italia – and a double

In Rome, Inter added another piece of silverware to a season already gleaming.

At the Stadio Olimpico, the newly crowned Serie A champions brushed aside Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final, securing a domestic double with the kind of cold efficiency that has defined their campaign.

The breakthrough came early and came from a Lazio boot. On 14 minutes, a corner swung into the box reached Adam Marusic, unmarked and seemingly in control of the situation. One misjudged header later, the ball nestled in his own net and Inter had the platform they craved.

Lazio wobbled. Inter smelled blood.

Ten minutes before the interval, another lapse punished them. Nuno Tavares switched off deep in his own half, Marcus Thuram pounced, robbed possession and drove towards goal. His low cross found Lautaro Martínez, who did what Lautaro Martínez does: a simple tap-in, 2-0, and Inter were already halfway to the trophy.

The second half offered chances at both ends, but the result never truly felt in doubt. Inter managed the game, Lazio chased it, and frustration eventually boiled over into a brief scuffle between players before the final whistle drew a line under it all.

A title. A cup. A statement season for Inter, finished with a flourish in the capital.

Champions toppled as Alavés drag Barcelona into their relegation storm

In Spain, the drama came from the other end of the table.

At Mendizorrotza, Alavés landed a punch few saw coming, beating newly crowned champions Barcelona 1-0 to haul themselves out of the relegation zone and throw fresh chaos into La Liga’s survival scrap.

The moment came in first-half stoppage time. Barcelona failed to clear a corner, the ball was recycled, and Antonio Blanco headed it back into the danger area. On-loan forward Ibrahim Diabate reacted quickest, finishing from close range to send the stadium into uproar and Alavés into the lead.

They clung to it, and that single goal reshaped the bottom of the table. Alavés climb to 15th on 40 points from 36 games, a fragile but vital cushion in a league where the drop zone has become a whirlpool.

The tension is suffocating. Only five points separate Real Sociedad in eighth from Girona in 19th. Two rounds remain. Nobody is safe enough to relax, and nobody is doomed enough to give up.

Sevilla and Espanyol both grabbed crucial wins of their own, nudging the picture yet again. Every result now feels like a swing of the pendulum.

Getafe breathe, Mallorca sweat

For Getafe, the equation is finally clear: they will be in La Liga next season.

Seventh in the table, they secured another year in the top flight with a 3-1 home win over Mallorca, driven by a brace from Martén Satriano. The victory pushes Getafe beyond reach and, at the same time, leaves Mallorca staring over the edge.

Mallorca sit just outside the relegation places on goal difference alone. Safety, for them, is a line in the sand rather than a comfort.

Below them, the numbers tell the story of a league gripped by fear. Four clubs – from Girona down to Elche in 16th – are locked together on 39 points. Girona at least hold a game in hand as they prepare to host Real Sociedad on Thursday, a match that could drag yet another side into the storm or offer a rare moment of daylight.

Real Oviedo have already gone, the first team confirmed relegated earlier this week without even playing, other results leaving them 10 points adrift with three matches still to play. They are the warning of what happens when the slide is not arrested in time.

The remarkable part? Twelve clubs remain mathematically in the relegation mix. A single bad week could change everything.

Sevilla’s fightback hints at survival

Sevilla, a club more accustomed to chasing European nights than counting survival points, delivered one of the most dramatic turnarounds of the evening.

Away at third-placed Villarreal, they looked broken after 20 minutes, 2-0 down and staring at a defeat that could have dragged them deep into trouble. Instead, they roared back.

Oso and Kike Salas struck before half-time, hauling Sevilla level and flipping the mood entirely. From desperation to defiance in the space of a few minutes.

The decisive moment arrived on 72 minutes. Akor Adams, in a season of struggle for so many around him, found his 10th league goal of the campaign, a finish that not only won the match 3-2 but may yet define Sevilla’s season.

They climb to 10th, four points clear of the drop. Not safe, not yet, but suddenly with breathing space and belief.

Across Europe, titles are being wrapped up and trophies lifted, but in Spain the real theatre lies at the bottom. With so many clubs still in danger and so little time left, who blinks next?
