With under a year left on his contract at Barcelona, Torres' future at the club is unclear. Meanwhile, Barcelona is actively seeking a new centre-forward, showing strong interest in Julian Alvarez as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona's Pursuit of Alvarez Clouds Torres' Future

The Catalan club has already made an offer for Alvarez, increasing uncertainty around Torres. Last season, Torres had arguably his best campaign at Barcelona, netting 16 league goals in 33 appearances, although he started only 23 of those matches.

Liverpool Considers Torres to Reinforce Attack

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool sees an opportunity to bring Torres to the Premier League. Andoni Iraola reportedly views him as a valuable addition to fill gaps left by Mohamed Salah's departure and Hugo Ekitike’s long-term Achilles injury, which is expected to keep Ekitike out until 2027.

Torres' ability to play across the front three adds to his appeal. Since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022, the 26-year-old has scored 65 goals in 201 games. Prior to that, he tallied 18 goals in 43 matches during an 18-month stint with Manchester City in England.
