Liverpool Pursues Bradley Barcola as PSG Lowers Demands
Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has been handed a significant twist, with Paris Saint-Germain now prepared to drop their original demands for the winger, according to reports in France.
The Premier League side have already moved decisively in this window. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna to sharpen the attack, while centre-backs Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo have come in from Rennes and Barcelona to reinforce the back line. The rebuild is well under way.
But the real headache remains out wide.
Mohamed Salah’s departure has left a gaping hole on the right, and Liverpool’s recruitment team have been scouring Europe for a winger capable of carrying that load. Interest in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande faded once it became clear the player favoured a move to either PSG or Real Madrid, forcing Liverpool to pivot quickly.
The focus landed on Barcola. The France international has slipped down the hierarchy at the Parc des Princes under Luis Enrique, squeezed by a wave of attacking signings. That shift opened a door, and Liverpool have been trying to walk through it for weeks.
Initial talks were complicated by PSG’s stance. The Ligue 1 champions were said to want around £130m (€152m), with French outlet Jeunes Footeux reporting that the club had long set a minimum of €150m for Barcola. A figure that underlined how highly the Paris hierarchy rate the 21-year-old.
Now, that line is moving.
Jeunes Footeux claim PSG are ready to listen to offers in the €130m–€140m range. It is only a “relative discount”, as the report puts it, but still a clear softening from their original position and described as something of a “gift” to Liverpool. The message from Paris, though, remains firm: they are under no obligation to sell and have no intention of being “more generous” than that.
So the price has nudged down, not collapsed. The valuation still screams “elite cornerstone” rather than “surplus to requirements”.
While the numbers swirl, the mood around the deal has shifted again thanks to Fabrizio Romano. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer specialist delivered a bullish update, insisting that he expects the Barcola move to “accelerate” with Liverpool “pushing” hard to close it.
Romano highlighted the clearest sign yet of PSG’s willingness to move players on: Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were not even on the bench. With Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ferran Torres, Mika Goots and Maghnes Akliouche already crowding the forward line, PSG’s attack is stacked. Six frontline options. Two high-profile absentees. The conclusion is obvious.
“The expectation is for both of them to go,” Romano said, referring to Barcola and Mbaye, before underlining Liverpool’s position: they are negotiating, they are confident, and they are pushing.
Crucially, Romano reports that Liverpool already have a verbal agreement on personal terms with Barcola. The player is on board. The battle now is with PSG’s valuation and the fine print of the fee structure.
From Monday, Romano claims, the saga moves into “crucial stages”. That is when Liverpool intend to step up the pace and try to turn weeks of talks into a breakthrough.
PSG have lowered the bar slightly but refuse to bow. Liverpool believe they have their Salah successor lined up and willing. The only question left is whether the gap between “relative discount” and Premier League reality can be bridged before someone else joins the race.
