Jamal Musiala Faces Driving Ban After 194 km/h Crash

Jamal Musiala is facing a lengthy spell off the road after a high-speed crash on the A8 motorway led to a penal order for negligent endangerment of road traffic and negligent bodily injury.

The Bayern Munich midfielder was involved in the incident on April 13, 2025, while driving an Audi RS e-tron GT towards Salzburg. The electric sports car, capable of producing more than 600 horsepower, was carrying Musiala and his younger sister when it collided with another vehicle.

According to the Munich I Public Prosecutor's Office, the 23-year-old was travelling at 194 km/h in a 120 km/h zone at the time of the crash.

“During an overtaking manoeuvre, the accused Jamal M., who was driving at excessive speed at the time, overlooked a car driving to his right, resulting in a collision,” spokesperson Florian Lindemann confirmed.

The car Musiala struck was a VW Golf with two occupants: a 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman. Both suffered minor injuries. Musiala, reportedly shocked by the impact, immediately went to check on their condition at the scene.

The crash caused significant material damage, with total property loss estimated at around €200,000.

The legal consequences arrived quietly but decisively. On January 28, 2026, the Munich District Court issued a penal order against Musiala, which has since become legally binding. He was found guilty of negligent endangerment of road traffic and negligent bodily injury in two cases.

The punishment goes beyond a financial hit. Musiala has also lost his driving licence.

Lindemann outlined the terms of the ban, stating that “a new driving licence may not be issued to Musiala before the expiry of nine months from the time the penal order became legally binding,” meaning the Bayern playmaker is unlikely to be back behind the wheel before the autumn.

His representatives have confirmed the incident, which had largely remained out of public view until now, drawing a line under any speculation about the circumstances of the crash.

For Musiala, the driving ban lands on top of a difficult stretch in his young career. His 2025 campaign has already been heavily disrupted by serious injury. At the Club World Cup he suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle, the most severe physical setback he has endured as a professional.

He fought his way back to fitness and returned to action in January, only to suffer another scare with an ankle injury in March. Now, away from the pitch, he must navigate the consequences of a mistake at 194 km/h that will shadow him long after his licence is restored.
