Harry Kane Set for Bayern Munich Contract Talks

Harry Kane has opened the door to fresh contract talks with Bayern Munich, insisting both he and the club are “relaxed” as he enters the final year of his deal with the Bundesliga champions.

The 33-year-old striker, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur for £86.4m in August 2023, is now into the last 12 months of the four-year contract he signed on arrival. Bayern, fresh from a league and cup double under Vincent Kompany, are keen to keep the most prolific striker in Germany tied down for longer.

Kane, speaking after his post-World Cup break, made it clear discussions are imminent.

“We obviously said we wanted to talk after the World Cup and after my holiday. So I'm not sure exactly when, but they'll start this week, next week... we'll start those talks,” he said.

“Like I've said before, we're calm, I think they're calm with the situation. Obviously now is the time to start talking, because there's only a year left. That's important. But both sides are relaxed, and I'm pretty sure there'll be some talks this week or next week.”

The numbers explain that calm. Kane plundered 61 goals in 51 games in all competitions last season, driving Bayern to a domestic double in Kompany’s first campaign in charge. In the Bundesliga alone, his dominance has been relentless: 98 goals in 94 league appearances across three seasons, and three straight Bundesliga Golden Boot awards to show for it.

On the international stage, his stock is just as high. At the 2026 World Cup, the England captain scored six times, becoming his country’s all-time leading World Cup scorer with 14 goals in 18 matches. Those performances, combined with his club form, have pushed him firmly into the conversation for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.

Kane knows it. He just refuses to be distracted by it.

“The Ballon d'Or is as big as it gets, from an individual point of view,” he said. “I know I had a great season last season, but the focus is on this new season.

“The Ballon d'Or's not in my hands. I've done what I can do in terms of putting in the performances. It's now down to votes and other people and the media - stuff I can't control - so we'll see what happens.

“Obviously, it would be amazing if it was to happen. But ultimately, it's still two or three months away before that's decided so it's not something that's at the front of my mind right now.”

So the picture is clear. Bayern have a 33-year-old centre-forward at the peak of his powers, chasing another title-laden year, another Golden Boot, and possibly the biggest individual prize in the sport. Contract talks are coming. The decision that follows will shape the next chapter of both Kane’s career and Bayern’s attack.
