Juventus Sign Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham as New Goalkeeper

Juventus have their new No. 1 in waiting – and he’s coming from north London.

The Turin club confirmed on Tuesday the arrival of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham, a long-discussed move that finally gives Juve the experienced shot-stopper they wanted for the new cycle. The deal is a loan running until 30 June 2027, a lengthy commitment that underlines how seriously the Bianconeri view this signing.

Juventus have secured an option to buy set at around 10 million euros including bonuses.

This is not an unknown name returning home. Born in 1996, Vicario grew up in the Udinese academy before building his career step by step: Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari, then Empoli, where he truly emerged. With 69 Serie A appearances for the Tuscan club, he earned a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable keepers, combining sharp reflexes with a calm presence under pressure.

Tottenham moved for him in 2023. The leap to the Premier League did not faze him. Vicario played 117 matches for the London side and crowned his spell there with a Europa League title in the 2024/25 season, a European trophy that added weight to his CV and hardened him for the demands of a big-club environment.

The move to Juventus, though, comes after a chase that initially seemed to be heading in other directions. Reports in recent weeks suggested the club had targeted Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez and Zion Suzuki before turning decisively towards Vicario. The Italian may not have been the first name on the shortlist, but he is the one now walking through the doors of Continassa.

For Juventus, it’s a signing that blends familiarity with ambition: an Italian goalkeeper, forged in Serie A, tested abroad, now returning at his peak years to guard one of the most demanding goals in world football. The question now is simple: can Vicario turn this long loan into a permanent chapter in black and white?
