Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Training with Jannik Sinner Ahead of His Tennis Return

The return of Jannik Sinner to competitive tennis seems imminent. Reports confirm that the Italian star plans to make his comeback at the upcoming China Open in Beijing, where he is the reigning champion. Sinner has been sidelined since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final due to a knee injury.

Despite his absence, Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings. However, his position as world number one faces pressure from Zverev, who recently won the US Open and trails by less than 2000 points. If results favor the German player, he could overtake Sinner before the season concludes.

Training Session With Flavio Cobolli

Sinner has been preparing for his return in Monte Carlo, where he shared the practice courts with fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who was the runner-up at Roland Garros, is currently in London representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

Before competing in the ninth edition of the annual team event, Cobolli spoke to Super Tennis TV about practicing alongside Sinner. He said,

"We joked around a lot. It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I have the occasion, I try to get the most out of the hours we play together. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I am always up for it when it comes to training with him."

At 24 years old, Cobolli is enjoying the best season of his career so far in 2026.

Laver Cup Details

This marks Cobolli's third consecutive appearance at the Laver Cup. He first competed in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from securing a three-peat.

He will not play on day one, which features a doubles match with Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik facing off against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is led by captain Yannick Noah and vice captain Tim Henman, while Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter serve as captain and vice captain for Team World.
