Nations Knocked Out of the 2026 World Cup So Far
The 2026 World Cup featured 48 nations, and after the group stage, 20 teams have already been sent home. Out of those first 16 departures, 12 teams ended up at the bottom of their groups.
These countries finished last in their respective groups: Czech Republic, Qatar, Haiti, Turkey, Curacao, Tunisia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Panama.
Additionally, four teams placed third but did not qualify due to their records: Iran, South Korea, Scotland, and Uruguay.
Knockout Stage Exits
Once past the group phase, four nations bowed out in the round of 32. These were South Africa, Japan, Germany, and Netherlands. The elimination of Germany, a four-time World Cup champion, was especially surprising as they lost to Paraguay in a tense penalty shootout.
