Barcelona Secures Karim Adeyemi on a Five-Year Deal

Karim Adeyemi has joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund, agreeing to a contract that runs until 2031. The transfer fee has not been officially confirmed, but reports from ESPN suggest an initial payment of €22 million (£18.8m) with an additional €7 million (£6m) in bonuses.

Dortmund is also expected to receive a share of any future profits if Barcelona sells the 24-year-old attacker later on.

Adeyemi’s Career Path and Stats

Before rising through the ranks at Dortmund, Adeyemi spent part of his youth career at Bayern Munich. His professional breakthrough came with Red Bull Salzburg in 2018, where he netted 33 goals and provided 24 assists across 94 appearances.

During his time at Dortmund starting in 2022, he appeared 146 times in all competitions, scoring 36 goals and assisting 25. The Germany international has also played 48 Champions League matches, contributing 16 goals and seven assists.

Versatile Attacker Joins Barca’s Offensive Line

Barcelona's official statement highlighted Adeyemi's ability to perform on both wings and as a central striker. His speed and strong left foot make him a valuable asset for coach Hansi Flick, who is familiar with the player from his senior debut for Germany while coaching the national team.

"FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalans until 2031," the club said.

When Will Adeyemi Make His First Appearance?

Adeyemi was not involved in the 2026 World Cup and has no reported fitness issues, so he is available immediately. He might miss the upcoming friendly against CE Europa but is expected to join the squad on their England trip next week.

His likely debut could come on July 31 against Birmingham City, with his first official match for Barcelona possibly taking place in the La Liga opener against Elche on August 23.
