Aston Villa Acquire Alejandro Garnacho on Loan from Chelsea
Aston Villa have secured the services of Argentinian winger Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with a condition that could make the transfer permanent next summer, as confirmed by both Premier League clubs on Thursday.
Emery Expresses Satisfaction Over New Signing
“We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy,” said Unai Emery in a statement from the club.
At 22 years old, Garnacho joins Villa following a challenging season at Chelsea. After moving from Manchester United last year for £40 million, he found it difficult to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. Across all competitions, Garnacho appeared 43 times and scored eight goals.
His journey started at Manchester United, where he spent five years and notched up 26 goals in 144 appearances before leaving last summer. Under the previous head coach Ruben Amorim, he fell out of favour, prompting the move away from Old Trafford.
Originally trained in Atletico Madrid's academy, Garnacho was named in Argentina’s preliminary 55-man squad for the World Cup but ultimately didn’t make the final roster.
