Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan

Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship side a much-needed injection of attacking pace on the left.

The 25-year-old arrives from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a proportion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers simply did not stack up for a permanent commitment.

This move is not just opportunistic. It is reactive. City went back into the market after fellow left winger Ali Ahmed suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna, ruling him out for the long term and leaving Clement short on that flank.

Musaba becomes Norwich’s fifth senior signing of the summer, joining a reshaped attacking unit that already includes £8m headline arrival Andre Brooks on the opposite wing. A right-footer who operates off the left, Musaba flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical and quickly agreed personal terms.

He is no stranger to the Championship. During a previous spell at Sheffield Wednesday, he registered 23 goal contributions in 80 appearances, numbers that underline both productivity and durability in one of Europe’s most unforgiving leagues.

"I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move," Musaba told the club’s official channels, outlining why Norwich won that race. "I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost."

That relationship with Clement runs back to their shared time at Monaco, where the Belgian coach left a lasting impression.

"I remember him from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him," Musaba said. "He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player."

That familiarity matters. Clement wants intensity, vertical running and direct threat from his wide players, and Musaba believes he now returns to the Championship better equipped for its physical and tactical demands.

"I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then," he added. "There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going."

Inside the club, the expectation is that he will do far more than just plug a gap left by Ahmed’s injury. Sporting director Ben Knapper made it clear Norwich see Musaba as central to their attacking identity this season.

"I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City," Knapper said. "We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.

"He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically. We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets."

Musaba will wear the number 49 shirt. How quickly he can translate that blend of pace, power and familiarity with Clement into end product may go a long way to deciding just how high Norwich can aim in this Championship campaign.
