Strip away the narratives and the TV build-up and the equation is simple. A Wrexham win would stretch their unbeaten run to four matches and harden the feeling that they belong at this level.

The clean sheets at Millwall and Swansea have given them a defensive platform. The new signings add quality and depth. The home crowd will expect them to step on the front foot and stay there.

Burnley, by contrast, are hunting for something more basic: a foothold. A point would steady them. A win would transform the complexion of their start and justify the gamble on Vardy.
