Worthing Signs Striker Jordan Young from Torquay United

Worthing have landed striker Jordan Young from National League South rivals Torquay United for an undisclosed fee, in a move that underlines their ambition at the top end of non-league football.

The 27-year-old arrives with a proven record. Since joining Torquay from Yeovil Town in October 2024, Young has hit 35 goals in 88 appearances, a consistent threat across multiple campaigns and a standout figure in a turbulent period for the Gulls.

Worthing boss Adam Hinshelwood made no attempt to play down the significance of the signing, highlighting Young’s ability to change a game in an instant.

"Jordan has great dead-ball delivery and can score and assists goals from out of nowhere, so he's going to be a really important player for us," Hinshelwood told the club’s website.

Set-pieces, long-range efforts, moments when nothing seems on – that is the profile Worthing have bought into. For a side with promotion aspirations, adding a forward with that kind of unpredictability and end product feels like a deliberate statement.

Torquay, meanwhile, have ensured the deal does not close the book on Young entirely. The club confirmed that the agreement "also ensures that United will retain a significant financial interest in any future transfer", protecting their stake should his value rise again.
