Wayne Rooney Teams Up with Mark Goldbridge for New Show

Wayne Rooney is stepping even deeper into the Manchester United conversation – and this time he’s doing it alongside one of the club’s most divisive online voices.

The former United and England captain will co-host a new Reds-dedicated show with influencer Mark Goldbridge this season, a move that pulls one of YouTube’s loudest fan platforms directly into the mainstream.

Rooney joins forces with Goldbridge

The show, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, will sit under Gary Neville’s growing Overlap brand. Rooney is already a regular on the network’s flagship panel show Stick to Football, but this new project puts him front and centre on a United-only platform next to Goldbridge, the face of The United Stand and That’s Football.

Goldbridge – real name Brent di Cesare – has built an enormous following on YouTube, amassing more than 3.8 million subscribers across his two channels. His clips regularly ricochet around social media, fuelled by explosive reactions and unapologetically strong opinions on United and the wider game.

Now those viral rants will share a stage with the club’s all-time leading scorer.

Neville’s Overlap goes big with Disney+ deal

This isn’t just a new show. It’s part of a major distribution push.

Neville’s Overlap has struck a deal with Disney+ that will see 50 episodes of Stick to United and 40 episodes of Stick to Football broadcast this season. For a platform that only launched in 2021, it marks a serious step from YouTube phenomenon to global streaming player.

Neville, who co-founded and co-chairs The Overlap, described the tie-up as a way to “expand our reach without compromising our identity”. That identity has already stretched beyond football into cricket and rugby, and now it moves closer to the heart of fan culture by formally embracing one of its most recognisable online figures.

Back in April, Neville paid an undisclosed seven-figure sum to acquire Goldbridge’s channels, bringing The United Stand and That’s Football under The Overlap umbrella. This latest move shows exactly how he plans to use them.

From critic of fan TV to owner of it

Neville’s partnership with Goldbridge is striking given his past views on fan-driven channels.

He famously tore into ArsenalFanTV in 2017, calling the Arsenal-dedicated YouTube outlet “embarrassing” after contributors savaged Arsène Wenger following a 3-1 defeat by Chelsea. That sparked a heated exchange on Twitter and eventually led to Neville appearing on the channel to explain his stance.

Seven years on, he now owns two of the biggest fan-led football platforms and is building premium shows around one of their most outspoken hosts.

The landscape has changed. So has Neville’s role in it.

Rooney’s growing media portfolio

For Rooney, this is another layer on an increasingly busy broadcast schedule.

The Wayne Rooney Show will return to BBC platforms this season, while he continues as a pundit on Match of the Day. Add in Stick to Football and now Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, and the former striker is fast becoming one of the most visible ex-pros on British football screens.

For Manchester United supporters, the real question is simple: with that many voices in the room, who shapes the narrative now?
