Progress stalled briefly but according to Record, the deal is nearly complete, awaiting only final details.

Silva is expected to play in Benfica’s Europa League second qualifying round second leg against St Gallen, likely his last appearance before the move is finalized. He has played 182 matches for Benfica across all competitions and earned 20 caps for Portugal. Once seen as one of football’s brightest young defenders, Silva has found consistent form elusive over recent seasons.

Newcastle Monitor Czech Keeper Lukas Hornicek

Newcastle United have shown interest in 24-year-old goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, who has featured 55 times for Braga during the 2025-26 season and 88 times overall for the Portuguese side. Though Newcastle have not made a formal offer, they are reportedly tracking the Czech international closely as they seek additional options in goal.

Hornicek, standing 6ft 6in tall, has a release clause around £30 million and has already turned down a move to Hull City. With Nick Pope rumored to be leaving St James’ Park, Hornicek could be eyed as the Magpies’ new first-choice goalkeeper.
