Tottenham Rejects Shabab Al Ahli Bid for Richarlison

Tottenham Hotspur have turned down an offer from UAE side Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, leaving the Brazilian forward stuck in limbo in North London until at least January.

The UAE Pro League club pushed to take the 29-year-old before their transfer window closes next week, with former Brazil Olympic coach Andre Jardine eager for a reunion. Richarlison was open to the move. The deal, though, never passed Tottenham’s own test.

Spurs rejected the proposal after deciding the terms did not work for the club, despite the offer including a clause that would have allowed Richarlison to move on again in January. The decision was about the structure of the deal, not the player’s willingness to go.

It ends another possible escape route in a summer of dead ends for the forward. Everton, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama all explored moves, only for talks to stall before anything concrete could be agreed. Shabab Al Ahli then emerged as the latest option. That door has now closed as well.

Staying put, but not playing

The outcome is stark. Richarlison is set to remain a Tottenham player until at least the winter window, yet he sits outside the club’s registered Premier League squad.

Unless something changes dramatically, he now faces the prospect of three and a half months without competitive first-team football. For a player still under contract until the end of the season – with Spurs holding an option to extend by a further year – it is an awkward, uneasy stand-off.

Tottenham must now decide how to manage a senior international forward who cannot feature in league action and whose future remains unresolved. Training-ground sessions, behind-closed-doors games, maybe cup minutes if registration rules allow – the options are limited, the stakes high.

For Richarlison, the message is clear enough. The Middle East will not be his escape route this month. January will bring another opening. The question is whether Spurs, and the player, can afford to wait that long.
