Tottenham's Ambitious Double Signing for Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham are deep in talks with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for Savinho and Marmoush, with negotiations described as progressing positively, according to The Athletic.

Nothing is signed. Not yet. But the lines between the two Premier League clubs are busy, and Spurs sense an opening they didn’t have a year ago.

Second chance for Savinho

Tottenham tried to prise Savinho away last summer and got nowhere. City simply refused to sell the Brazilian, seeing him as part of their longer-term plans.

This time feels different.

Savinho was left out of the squad entirely for Sunday’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, a notable omission that has only fuelled talk of an exit. While City have not publicly declared him available, his absence on a big curtain-raiser day has given Tottenham encouragement that a deal can be done.

Spurs see him as a wide forward who can stretch defences and inject pace and unpredictability into Roberto De Zerbi’s attack. They’ve been here before with City and walked away empty-handed. They don’t intend to again.

Marmoush the Haaland understudy who wants more

On the other side of the deal sits Marmoush, long viewed as one of the more expendable members of City’s squad.

Stuck behind Erling Haaland, he has largely operated as a backup option and has been widely expected to move on during this window. His track record before arriving in Manchester still carries weight: 15 goals in 17 games in his final half-season for Eintracht Frankfurt. That kind of run is hard to ignore, and Tottenham are betting it can be revived in north London.

For De Zerbi, Marmoush offers something he badly needs: a central forward who can score regularly and lead the line with aggression. With Richarlison down to the final year of his contract and Dominic Solanke battling injuries, Spurs’ front line has felt one knock away from crisis.

The club do not want to live that close to the edge.

A spending spree with a plan

If Savinho and Marmoush arrive, they will walk into a dressing room already transformed by one of the most lavish summers in Tottenham’s history.

The numbers are stark. Spurs have committed around £229.5 million on Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. On top of that, they have added Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, bolstering depth and experience without further straining the budget.

It looks wild on paper. It is not reckless.

Tottenham remain within financial regulations, helped by a decisive change in approach from majority owners ENIC, who are now actively injecting funds into the club. Big outgoing deals have done the rest: Luka Vuskovic’s move to Brighton for a guaranteed £46m has underpinned much of this activity and given Spurs room to manoeuvre.

This is not tinkering around the edges. It is a reset.

De Zerbi’s “bomba” takes shape

Earlier this month, De Zerbi teased supporters with talk of a surprise “bomba” signing. It sounded like theatre at the time, a manager stoking excitement in pre-season.

The double move for Savinho and Marmoush would fit the billing.

Tottenham’s need is obvious. They require goals, variety and depth in the final third to sustain a top-four push. Richarlison’s contract situation lingers in the background. Solanke’s fitness record raises questions about reliability across a 38-game campaign. De Zerbi wants to attack the league, not nurse his squad through it.

Add Savinho’s direct running and Marmoush’s penalty-box instincts to what Spurs already have, and the picture changes quickly. The Italian coach would suddenly have a forward line capable of rotating without a drop in threat, a group built to play at high tempo for months rather than weeks.

One of the league’s most dangerous attacks?

The immediate task is clear: Tottenham now move to try to finalise agreements with City before the window shuts. No club wants to be scrambling in the final days, but big deals often live there.

If Spurs get both over the line, De Zerbi will own one of the most formidable attacking units in the Premier League on paper. Tonali’s control in midfield, new full-backs offering width, fresh options in defence – all of it designed to support an attack that can overwhelm opponents.

The money has been spent. The intent is obvious.

Now the question is simple: will Savinho and Marmoush be the signings that turn bold ambition into a top-four finish?
