Tottenham's £145m Attack: De Zerbi Welcomes Sávio and Marmoush

Tottenham have doubled down on Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking vision with a blockbuster late-window raid, landing Sávio and Omar Marmoush in a combined package that could hit £145 million.

As first reported by ESPN, Spurs struck an £85m deal with Manchester City for Sávio and secured Marmoush on a season-long loan that carries an obligation to buy rising to £60m. Those two moves push the club’s summer outlay beyond the £350m mark, a statement of intent in capital letters.

“Bomba” arrivals for De Zerbi

De Zerbi could barely hide his excitement as he prepared for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.

“I think Sávio and Marmoush are bomba,” he said. “I don't know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure.”

The Italian has been backed heavily since taking charge, but even he admitted the scale of this window has taken him by surprise.

“I didn't expect one transfer market and one window like we have done,” De Zerbi said, reflecting on a frantic few months that have reshaped his forward line.

Despite the spending, Tottenham are not closing the book on this window just yet. De Zerbi revealed that talks are ongoing over at least one more signing before Tuesday night’s deadline.

“I think we can do one player more and in one specific position,” he explained. “But yesterday we went for dinner with the owners, with Vinai [Venkatesham], with Johan [Lange] and with Enrico [Venturelli]. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection.”

The message is clear: the recruitment drive has been aggressive, but it is also coordinated. De Zerbi has his fingerprints all over the profile of player arriving.

Marmoush to sharpen the edge

Marmoush comes in with serious numbers behind him. The Egyptian forward has just produced a prolific spell, scoring 37 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt and 16 for Manchester City, a haul that underlines why Spurs see him as more than just depth.

He walks into a squad that needs firepower. James Maddison is not fully fit, Mohammed Kudus is only just returning from injury, and the load in the final third has been heavy on a small core of players. Marmoush changes that dynamic immediately.

“A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player,” De Zerbi said. “We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy.”
