Stoke City Signs Midfielder Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace

Stoke City have landed midfielder Justin Devenny from Crystal Palace, tying the Northern Ireland international to a four-year deal as part of a sweeping summer rebuild at the bet365 Stadium.

The fee remains undisclosed, but the intent is crystal clear. Devenny is signing for a club that wants out of the Championship and back among the elite.

The 22-year-old arrives with meaningful experience behind him. Across three seasons at Crystal Palace, he made 60 appearances and scored four goals, while also playing a role in the Eagles’ FA Cup, Community Shield and Uefa Conference League-winning campaigns. For a player still in the early stages of his career, that is a serious grounding in high-pressure football.

Now he becomes Stoke’s tenth signing of the window, a number that underlines just how aggressively the Potters have chosen to reshape their squad.

“A big part of the reason for me joining is that the ambitions of the club match mine, and that's to ultimately get back into the Premier League,” Devenny told the club’s website. “That's the goal, and it's what we want and it's what the fans want as well. With the size of the club, that's what we need to aim to be.”

Those words will play well in the stands, but inside the building they also fit the recruitment brief.

Sporting director Jon Walters praised Devenny’s “tenacious attitude” and pointed to the value of his top-level experience.

“Devenny gives us versatility and further competition within the squad, which was important to us as we looked to strengthen over the summer,” Walters said. “With the 10 new signings we have made over the window, we feel we have added both quality and depth across the squad.

“We believe we now have a group capable of having a successful season, but we know the relentless hard work must continue throughout the club if we are going to achieve what we want to.”

Stoke have talked openly about promotion for years. With Devenny added to a double-figure list of recruits, this version of the squad will be judged on whether it can finally turn that ambition into a sustained push back towards the Premier League.
