Sávio Joins Tottenham for £85m: A Major Signing for De Zerbi

Tottenham have finally landed Sávio from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million, a transfer that has been a year in the making and one that underlines just how aggressively the club are backing Roberto De Zerbi.

Spurs first made their move for the Brazilian forward last summer. They kept pushing. Now they’ve got him.

"It's taken a while but I'm very happy to be here," Sávio said after completing the move. "It's a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.

"We're very pleased to have him with us, and I'm looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team."

That “courage to attack defenders” line will resonate with a fanbase that watched a makeshift front line labour in the opening weekend defeat to Brentford, when 19-year-old academy graduate Mikey Moore started on the right wing.

From City fringe to Spurs centrepiece

For Sávio, this is a chance to step out of the shadows.

He joined Manchester City from Troyes in 2024, but never became more than a peripheral figure in a star-studded squad. Across 53 appearances for City, he produced two goals and 12 assists – flashes of talent rather than a sustained run as a starter.
