San Diego FC Signs Experienced Striker Cedric Bakambu from Real Betis
San Diego FC, competing in Major League Soccer, has finalized the signing of seasoned striker Cedric Bakambu, who recently parted ways with La Liga club Real Betis. The 35-year-old forward has committed to a contract running through the 2026 season, with options to extend into 2027 and 2028. His addition brings a wealth of European and international experience as San Diego pushes for a strong finish in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

Bakambu arrives at San Diego after completing his stint with Real Betis. He joins fresh from representing DR Congo at the 2026 World Cup, where he started three matches and helped the team reach the Round of 32 in their debut tournament appearance.

Since breaking through professionally with Sochaux, Bakambu has recorded 191 goals and 49 assists across 492 appearances. His club career includes spells at Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray. Internationally, he has scored 21 goals in 72 matches for DR Congo, participating in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
His arrival strengthens a frontline featuring Anders Dreyer, Marcus Ingvartsen, and fellow 2026 World Cup participant Elias Achouri.
