Safia Middleton-Patel Joins Watford on Season-Long Loan

Safia Middleton-Patel will spend the 2026-27 campaign with Watford after sealing a season-long loan move from Manchester United.

The Wales international returns to Vicarage Road after a successful spell in the second half of the 2023-24 season, this time committing to a full year with the Hornets in Women's Super League 2.

At 21, Middleton-Patel is at a pivotal stage of her career. She made her senior debut for United against Newcastle United in December 2024 and went on to collect three appearances under Marc Skinner last season, including a standout outing in United's Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.

United underlined their belief in her potential in a brief statement, saying: "We will be tracking Saf's progress closely and wish her the very best of luck."

Now comes the real test: a full season as a frontline goalkeeper, with Watford and Wales both watching closely.
