Roma Eye Free Agents Zaha, Diatta, and Guerreiro for Left Flank
Atalanta are looming on the fixture list, but at Trigoria the lights stay on in a different room. One eye on tactics, the other on the transfer market.
Roma came out of the summer window without the left-sided reinforcement Gian Piero Gasperini had asked for, and the gap on that flank still nags. The club have turned to the pool of free agents, combing through names but resisting any rush move. The plan is simple: step in only if a profile genuinely matches the coach’s demands.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, one name ticks a lot of boxes: Wilfried Zaha. The Ivorian winger, who came close to joining Roma back in 2023, is currently without a club after his most recent spell and could arrive on a free. His ability to operate wide, attack one-on-one and slide into different attacking structures keeps him firmly on the radar.
He is not the only candidate. Krépin Diatta is also under consideration, another wide option now unattached after his last season with Monaco. Younger and versatile, he offers a different type of athletic profile but the same key advantage in this market: no transfer fee.
Then there is the more experienced route. Raphael Guerreiro, 32, is also on Roma’s list after spending last season at Bayern Munich. Naturally left-footed, comfortable both as a full-back and further forward, he would provide a ready-made solution for the left flank if Roma decide to lean on proven pedigree.
For now, the club watch and wait. Atalanta come first, but the feeling around Trigoria is clear: if the right opportunity appears, Roma want that left side fixed for good.
