Raheem Sterling Charged with Dangerous Driving and Nitrous Oxide Possession

Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide after crashing his car on the M3 in May.

Police confirmed the former England winger faces three offences stemming from a single-vehicle collision on May 28 in Hampshire, near England’s south coast. The incident involved a Lamborghini on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesman told BBC News that a driver would appear in court next month to face charges following the collision. The force later named the 31-year-old as Raheem Sterling, from Berkshire.

Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, and failing to provide a specimen. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no injuries were reported.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 15 September.

The case arrives at a turbulent stage of Sterling’s career. He has been without a club since leaving Dutch side Feyenoord at the end of last season and is currently a free agent.
