PSG's Front Line Reshuffle: Godts and Barcola Transfers

Paris Saint-Germain are quietly rearranging the front line – and two deals now sit on the same hinge.

On one side is Bradley Barcola, wanted by Liverpool and edging towards the Premier League. On the other is Ajax winger Mika Godts, identified in Paris as the man who would unlock Barcola’s exit.

Godts deal drives Barcola’s exit plan

PSG have gone back in for Godts with a fresh offer that now sits close to Ajax’s valuation, with an agreement for the 21-year-old expected as early as this weekend. Inside the club, Godts has been ring-fenced as Barcola’s direct replacement, the signing that would finally allow the French champions to cash in on their 23-year-old wide man.

Agent Jorge Mendes is involved in pushing the Godts move over the line, with the proposed fee understood to be around €50million. PSG see that outlay as the key to freeing up the rest of their attacking reshuffle.

Once Godts is in, Barcola can go. That is the internal logic in Paris.

Liverpool in pole position – but price is the fight

Liverpool have already done the easy part: Barcola has agreed personal terms and made it clear throughout the process that Anfield is his preferred destination. He wants the move. He is ready for it.

Arsenal have tracked the situation and held talks of their own, but all indications are that Liverpool remain at the front of the queue, with the player aligned on a switch to Merseyside.

The problem is the number.

Liverpool currently value a deal at around £100million. PSG sources believe they can be persuaded to sell for a package closer to £125million – still a step down from the £145m stance they initially took, but a figure that would potentially make Barcola the most expensive British transfer in history, eclipsing last summer’s record move for Alexander Isak to Newcastle.

PSG have now told Liverpool there is room to negotiate. The door is open, but not wide. The French champions want a serious move from Liverpool’s current position before they sign off on anything.

PSG’s wider attacking puzzle

This is not a one-off sale. It is part of a broader reset.

Ferran Torres already has an agreement to join from Barcelona and is being lined up as the replacement for Goncalo Ramos. Maghnes Akliouche has arrived to cover the void left by Lee Kang-In. Godts, though, is the one specifically earmarked to step into Barcola’s lane on the flank.

That is why PSG are driving so hard to close the Ajax talks now. Secure Godts, and the last real barrier to Barcola’s departure becomes the size of Liverpool’s bid.

For the moment, the pieces are sliding into place: Godts edging towards Paris, Barcola lined up for Liverpool, and PSG finally showing some flexibility on a valuation that once looked immovable. Now the question is simple: will Liverpool push hard enough to finish what they’ve started?
