Portsmouth Sign Defender Benjamin Arthur on Loan
Portsmouth have bolstered their back line with the season-long loan signing of highly rated defender Benjamin Arthur from Premier League side Brentford.
The 20-year-old centre-half arrives at Fratton Park with a taste of top-flight football already on his CV. He spent part of last season in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic, making six appearances, and has three senior outings under his belt for the Bees.
Arthur is also recognised on the international stage, having been capped by England up to Under-20 level, underlining his status as one of the country’s emerging defensive prospects.
Head Coach's Comments
"We're thrilled to bring Benjamin here for the season to boost our defensive ranks," Mousinho said. "He possesses all the attributes you expect of a centre-back and is also more than comfortable with the ball at his feet."
"Despite his relatively young age, he already has experience of top-flight football, and we feel he can be a real asset as we look to progress in our third season in the Championship."
Arthur now steps into a Portsmouth side intent on kicking on, with the young defender handed a clear platform to turn promise into presence at Championship level.
